Padel tennis is a new activity on offer at Club La Santa and already very popular.

Much easier to play than Tennis, Padel tennis combines elements of both Squash and Tennis where you can bounce the ball off the glass walls surrounding the court.

Ease of play and accessibility has made Padel tennis a fast growing sport across Europe.

Padel tennis, a game played extensively throughout Spain and Latin America, can be played in either singles or doubles and the scoring is the same as in a game of Tennis.

The only serve allowed is underhand, which is much easier to master than a Tennis serve, and the game is won from the best of three sets. The biggest difference between Padel and normal Tennis is that the court has walls, and the balls can be played off them in a similar way to the game of Squash. The rackets are very different to a normal tennis racket, being much thicker, with holes going through the middle, but feel about the same weight to hold.

Padel tennis courts are one third of the size of a regular tennis court, this typically makes games less physically demanding than tennis.

Most players who have never tried the game before get the hang of it after just twenty minutes of playing, and find it easy to build up a good level of skill to enjoy the game.

Since opening our courts in 2010, Padel at Club La Santa has proved popular with guests of all ages and skills. The sport is quick and easy to pick up, and less physically demanding than similar sports such as squash.

Club La Santa has five padel tennis courts which can be booked via Sports Booking for use from 08.00 – 22.00.

Each of the courts has floodlights, so you can enjoy playing late into the evening.

Rackets are available to borrow from Sports Booking, and a copy of the rules can be picked up for free at the same time.

Balls can be bought in Sports Booking for a small fee.

Social Padel tournaments are also arranged by the Green Team a couple of times each week, and you are welcome to come along and join in for free; please sign up in Sports Booking.

The Green Team offer a couple of ‘Introduction to Padel’ sessions for beginners each week, which are free to join, and a great introduction to the skills of the sport, such as how to play the ball off the glass walls to your advantage!

The ‘Introduction to Padel’ sessions and Social Padel tournaments are held regularly, please check the Weekly Programme for further details.

Your Padel Tennis Personal instructor can give you an introduction to the sport and teach you the basic serve and shots, giving you tips on how to make use of the walls of the court and tactical advice.

Contact Sports Booking during your stay for availability and prices.
