Club La Santa > Footer News > More Than A Holiday for Lucky Competition Winner!
Whilst sat next to my dying father in Hospital in October 2017, I saw a competition on Twitter being run by England Squash. I never enter competitions but decided to enter. From hearing about Club La Santa when I was a youngster, I had always wanted to visit. My father passed away and a week later, I received an email from England Squash saying that I had won the holiday.
I was unable to take both my daughters ( both squash players ) as they were taking exams and couldn’t take time out from school and university. The holiday had to be used by the end of June 2018. As well as my husband Jeff, I asked two very close friends, Sean and Debbie, if they would like to join us. They paid for a room upgrade and all four of us travelled over to Club La Santa on Friday the 20th of April.
All four of us are members with England Squash. Jeff and Sean also play Racketball. From the minute we arrived, the trip was jam packed. We no sooner checked in and we were visiting the Sports Booking area to activate our sports booking app in order that we could start booking up activities.
The resort itself is situated in a picturesque volcanic area surrounded by the sea on one side and volcanic hills on the other. The village of La Santa is approx. 3kms away uphill. For anyone loving the great outdoors, this is the place to explore, both on foot or on bike.
The resort itself is spotlessly clean and is of high quality. Our apartment was a 2 bedroom Comfort apartment which was more than adequate for all of us to stay in. We cooked everyday bar one, when we celebrated Sean and Debbie’s wedding anniversary eating in one of the resorts many restaurants.
One of the first bookings made by our party was the squash courts. Club La Santa has 4 recently built glass backed squash courts. These were high quality and were easy to book. Whilst at Club La Santa we got to know the resident squash coach. A young Dutch male named Kasper. Kasper arranged a weekly coaching session free of charge which we all attended. There was also a squash tournament that was split into three categories, beginners, intermediates and advanced. Our group entered this event which was a great way of meeting other players from around the world. Sean won the advanced group and Jeff won the Intermediate group.
Later that afternoon, both boys returned to play in the Racketball tournament. Both made the final of the advanced group with Sean coming first and Jeff runner up. Two days later both guys attended the award ceremony run by the coaching team, known as the Green Team.
During our stay our group tried many sports to include, table tennis, padel tennis, mini golf, water sports to include stand up padel board and sea kayaking, as well as hiring out the excellent quality bikes, most of which were free of charge to use.
Although the weather wasn’t great during our stay this simply meant that we had to do more sports as it wasn’t quite warm enough to sit around the pool.
“In summary this resort is simply World Class. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. You are surrounded by young and old, all who love sport. There is something for everyone here. We didn’t want to leave and would recommend this to anyone who played squash and enjoyed an active sporty holiday.”
Thank you England Squash and Club La Santa for the prize. We will certainly return!
