Padel Tennis courts open - NEW COURT PICTURES

We’ve added a new sport to our Club La Santa line-up with the opening of 3 brand new Padel Tennis courts.

If you’re not familiar with the game, it’s a bit like traditional tennis, but on a smaller court and with padels, rather than racquets.

Our courts are situated between the running track and the tennis courts and we’ll now offer an introduction to the game in our Weekly Programme, as well as a social tournament.

So what’s it all about?

Well it’s typically played as a doubles game on an enclosed court. The rest is like a mixture of tennis and Real Tennis. The scoring is very much like tennis, but players can bounce balls off the walls to win points. The balls themselves are slightly depressurised tennis balls.

It’s fast, exciting and takes a great deal of skill to master, but with 4 people running around the small courts, it’s a great way to socialise!

The game was invented in South America and it’s very popular in Latin American countries. It’s only over the last few years that its reputation has spread to Europe, this is due to more and more padels being picked up in the Costa del Sol.
