January 2012 at Club La Santa offers great opportunities to MTB riders.
This year’s Off Road Mountain Bike event includes two new exciting courses, making the adventure more challenging and even more technical than ever before!
4 stages on 4 consecutive days… Join the adventure!

We are happy to announce the participation of:

Gunn Rita Dahle, Multivan Merida Biking Team, Norwegian cross-country & marathon mountain biker, Gunn Rita won the women’s cross-country gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games and is multiple World Champion. She has won 6 World Championships and 6 European championships. She is present European Champion! She has also won 4 UCI World Cups XC in a row.

Annika Langvad, DEN, Team Rockets, defending champion of this race, Cyclocross National Champion, Haderslev (DEN), Marathon World Champion 2011, Montebelluna (ITA).

Sally Bigham, GBR, Topeak-Ergon Racing Team rider, 3 times British Marathon Champion, currently ranked 1st in the UCI Marathon World Rankings, finished 3rd in the Cape Epic mixed pairs in 2010.

Sandra Santanyes, ESP, 11 times Spanish Champion and more than 15 national podiums in Spanish Championships, 24 podiums in Spanish MTB Cup, 1st and 3rd in TOUR FRANCE MTB “Hexagonal”, 3rd Milenio Titán Desert 2011, 3rd Andalucía Bike Race 2010, 13 times called by the Spanish MTB Selection for World and European Championships.

James Ouchterlony, SCO, Mondraker Bikes, winner of this race in 2010, he lives in La Palma. James is specialized in marathon and cross country mountain bike racing. He represented Scotland at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He was also the Sports Personality of the year in the Angus Sports Awards 2005.

Absa Cape Epic Mountain Bike Training Camp
Take part in the only official European training camp for the magical and untamed African mountain bike race, the Absa Cape Epic! Every year in the end of March South Africa hosts this well known stage race held over 8 days of approximately 800km and 16.000m of climbing for amateurs and professionals from around the world. (www.cape-epic.com).
Lanzarote is the ideal location to train for such an extreme adventure race; not only because of the similar road and track conditions, but also the warm and sunny climate in combination with the perfect training facilities at Club La Santa. This camp is not only for Absa Cape Epic (future)participants, but for all experienced mountain bike riders with a passion for stage racing (you should be able to ride 4-5 hours on the mountain bike daily)
The hosts will give you plenty of challenges and guidance, leaving you with many unforgettable off road experiences. On top of that you will get the chance to challenge yourself and experience the race adrenaline in the Club La Santa 4 stage Mountain Bike Race taking place on the 28th and 31st of January 2012.
Coaches
Laurent Sillon – 4 times Absa Cape Epic finisher will be the leader of this Camp. He has been working at Club La Santa since 1994. From March 2006 he has been organizing all the popular Club La Santa Bike Weeks in co-operation with the Event Week Coordinator. Laurent has 30 years experience of cycling and MTB including some years of A-Level/advanced amateur level cycling in both Lanzarote and his home country, France.
Sally Bigham – Topeak-Ergon Racing Team rider, will be a guest on this camp. The 3 times British Marathon Champion, currently ranked 2nd in the UCI Marathon World Rankings, finished 3rd in the Cape Epic mixed pairs in 2010. Looking to improve on this 3rd place finish the last few years Sally has acquired lots of experience of marathon and stage races and she will be onhand to offer help and advice throughout the Club La Santa Cape Epic Mountain bike training camp.
