Last Day-Multi Terrain 3 Stage Marathon
On this cloudy and windy Monday morning the participants started again at 10:00 at Mancha Blanca. From Mancha Blanca the tarmac road took the runners through Tinajo town. Afterwards they had to run on dirt tracks towards La Santa village and then ran the last kilometers enjoying the spectacular coastal views before finishing at Club La Santa Stadium.

The winners of today were the same as yesterday. Andy Pickett gained his 3rd victory and managed to leave a gap of more than 2 minutes to the 2nd finisher, Andrew Green behind him. Andy Pickett came in after 50:56 today and with all 3 days together he ran a marathon in 2:35:30.
Andrew Green became 2nd all 3 days and his overall result is 2:40:45.
3rd male today was David Patiño, who became 3rd overall in a time of 2:50:11.
Then among the female runners Michelle Flaxton came in 1st, as she did yesterday as well, with a time of 1:00:07. 2nd today was Clare Reeves again with 1:02:17 and Susannah Evans (our wellness girl) came in 3rd with a time of 1:03:51.
First lady overall is Clare Reeves with an overall time of 3:11:29, 2nd Susannah Evans (3:14:52) and 3rd Sarah Kelvey (3:37:22). So that means 2 staff members of Club La Santa on the podium!

Andy after the race: ‘I really enjoyed it. I’ve never done it, it was a long way and really hard. I kept on looking behind! Probably next year again!’
Special congratulations to our blind Danish runner Klaus Ursin who ran all 3 days together with his friend Jørgen Andersen, who guided him through the race. Their overall time was 5:02:00, amazing!

2nd Day -Multi Terrain 3 Stage Marathon
From Los Dolores Church in Mancha Blanca the participants started their 2nd day of the Multi Terrain 3 Stage Marathon, Sunday morning at 10:00. It was very windy and cloudy, so it wasn’t as hot as it was yesterday. The participants ran 14.026 km off road on small volcanic stoned climbing a volcano, at 395 m above sea level, where they had a breathtaking view of the Tinajo area.
There were a few changes in the podium places today. Among the male racers Andy Pickett won again with a time of 56:48, then Andrew Green came 2nd again with a time of 57:49. 3rd male was Folkert Behrends from Germany, living in Lanzarote just after 1 hour (1:01:41). It is amazing that Folkert participates in this race, because in February he had a really tragically accident. A lucky man, he is!

Among the female racers there was a new podium too. Michelle Flaxton from the UK won this Sunday with a time of 1:09:29. She didn’t participate the 1st day, though. After Michelle Clare Reeves came 2nd again with 1:09:58, pretty close to the first lady. The 3rd lady runner was yesterday’s winner Susannah Evans with a time of 1:12:20. Susannah was very struggling today up hill! Hopefully our Wellness girl will be fit for tomorrow again. Let’s see what happens!
Andy, how did your race go today?
‘Really nice! This was my best day. I ran steady and pushed it on the hill. Me and Andrew ran side by side up on the big hill, than there was the same gap after that. Today I preferred better than yesterday.’
Clare, you came in 2nd today again, how do you feel?
‘It was a lot easier today. It is nice downhill tomorrow, I like that better.
After the race everyone could enjoy some nice food in a restaurant close by the Los Dolores Church. There they did a little ceremony and Kenneth Gasque, our Events Manager, handed out the daily prices to the first three males and females of today!

Tomorrow is the 3rd and last race day of the Multi Terrain 3 Stage Marathon! The runners will take off from the tarmac road in Mancha Blanca and take them through Tinajo town. Afterwards they will run on dirt tracks towards La Santa village and they will run the last kilometers enjoying the spectacular coastal views before finishing at Club La Santa. 14.658 km will be the last and longest distance, but it will be downhill!

1st Day-Multi Terrain 3 Stage Marathon
At 10:00 Saturday morning June 14th the 55 runners participating in the 3 Stage Marathon started their first day. 13.551 K all the way up hill was a tough race with the warm and sticky weather so there is not much oxygen in the air, though there was not much wind. The race started at Club La Santa Stadium and finished in Mancha Blanca, at 270 m. above sea level. They ran on both dirt tracks and tarmac roads to Los Dolores Church where the lava flow stopped in 1736.

After 2 rounds on the track they went off in the direction of Mancha-Blanca where they finished near the Los Dolores Church. 2 males were leading the race from the beginning; Andy Pickett, no 6 and Andrew Green, no 1. Andy started really fast and no one thought he was going to keep up such a pace. Among the females Susannah Evans, no 41 lead the race from the beginning together with Clare Reeves, no 7. To mention that both Males and Females leading are from the UK.
Amazingly Andy did keep up that pace and he finished after – minutes! – minutes after Andy finished, we saw Andrew coming towards us from behind the Church.
A small – minutes later Susannah reached the finish line in a fast time as well, with right behind her Clare Reeves. 3rd Male was David Patiño, no 12 from Spain and 3rd Female was Sarah Kelvey, also an employee from Club La Santa (Greenteam).

How did your race go Susannah?
‘I really enjoyed it! It was a test all the way up to the top. I was a bit worried about my training first, but last week was good. I ran first up the hill with Clare behind me and then I could feel that her legs were getting heavy. She had a good finish, so I’ll watch her tomorrow.’
How did your race go Andy?
‘I ran too fast in the beginning, so it was hard after that, haha and it was hot. I was counting down after every km. I’m actually a track runner, so this is a bit long for me. Andrew and me come from the same place in the UK, but we train at different clubs. I’ve been here on holiday a few times before and I come here normally in April.’
Tomorrow the runners will start at the Los Dolores Church in Mancha-Blanca where they finished today and they will finish there again. They run off road on small volcanic stones climbing a volcano, at 395 m above sea level, where they will have a breathtaking view of the Tinajo area.
