Jenson Button returns to Club La Santa
Posted: Saturday December 5, 2009
Formula One World Drivers’ Champion, Jenson Button, has returned to Club La Santa as he prepares for next season, lining up alongside Lewis Hamilton.
The 29-year-old is a big fan of our resort. We’re not just saying that – he’s here 3 times a year to take part in training and he first stopped by in 2001!
It clearly did the job for him this year and we also helped his rival Mark Webber, who spent some time recuperating with us before recording some fantastic results himself.
Maybe Lewis and Team McLaren will be joining Jenson next time? You never know!
We’re pretty used to World Champions here at Club La Santa and we always roll out the red carpet. With Jenson it was no exception as we unveiled his photo in our Hall of Fame in the Sports Café.
He’s now up there with the likes of Frank Bruno, Linford Christie and Colin Jackson who have also visited us in the past.
So what does an F1 World Champion get up to at CLS? Well he told us that it was a case of building up his fitness ahead of the new season. He spent a lot of time in the Fitness Centre and Olympic Pool under the expert care of his personal trainer, Mike Collier.
No pro athlete can keep away from competitions for long though and as per usual he competed in the Mini Triathlon and finished in the leaders group. No news on whether he’ll take part in the Lanzarote Ironman just yet though!
As far as relaxation goes, it was a case of heading for the waves with his bodyboard or hitting the road with his team and cycling through the volcanic landscape.

Congratulations once again Jenson and we look forward to seeing you in 2010 – have another great season!
