Consortium Promotion presents DJ Def Star @ CLS
DJ Def Star from Consortium Promotion gave us a great party night last Tuesday in our very own CLS Arena. The atmosphere, the people, the music and all the energy that was flowing made the night successful.

Charles Longdon-Hughes and Club La Santa’s Entertainment Manager Joanne Smith came up with the idea to have a RNB night at the CLS Arena. Charles is the organizer of the International Aerobics Week and organized a few social activities. There was a BBQ and party afterwards on Sunday where Charles invited the DJ to come and play.

DJ Def Star, also known as Jason, plays Hip-hop, R&B, Reggae, Party classics, but mostly just what is suitable for the crowd he plays for.
Consortium exists for 9 years now. It is a foundation situated in London with a collection of people who can entertain you for a night, like DJ’s, MC’s. Consortium is designed by house parties. They want to create the same atmosphere as if you are in a house; interacting, dancing, but then in a club. Line dancing is an important aspect of that too as you could see in the disco Tuesday if you were there. Almost everybody joined in and it was so nice to see all those people dance together and having a great time!

DJ Def Star has been playing music for 21 years now. The meaning of his name is ‘to be good or to be wicked’. The reaction of the people he plays for means a lot to him. When he started he played mostly for his own satisfaction, but now most important is the people’s satisfaction. He doesn’t care about what kind of audience he is playing for, all that matters is that: ‘The people have to be interactive. If the vibe is right, everybody will be interactive.’

The reason he is here at Club La Santa is because he is on holiday/training week with the Cross Fire Badminton Club from London. Charles Longdon-Hughes from the International Aerobics Week invited the badminton club and RIP Fitness to join him at Club La Santa, so a big group of enthusiastic people from London and a lot of them were in the disco making their moves!

Where do you get your inspiration from?
‘Of watching movies like Breakdance, Be at street, Wildstyle. At Club La Santa I listened to music in the classes to get an idea.’

The goal Jason wants to achieve with Consortium is that when people hear the 2 names – DJ Def Star and Consortium – that they know what they’re getting. That the people think whenever or wherever Consortium plays we have to be there. Last Sunday they just went up to the beach, had a barbeque and afterwards DJ Def Star began to play. More and more people came and it was a good evening. Afterwards a couple of guests came up to Jason and complimented him.

Consortium plays in all kinds of clubs in the city area of London. They do the promotion everywhere, so not only in the regular clubs, but also in club/restaurants. Every 2nd month they have a club night. They have been to Barbados too last year, which was a success as well.
