Challenge week - Fun and Sun for the 5K Beach Run
Posted: Thursday December 1, 2011

Around 300 runners joined the 5km Beach Run in Puerto del Carmen this morning. The Club La Santa Green Team led a fun warming up session along with some volunteer guests before the race start at 10.00am. Although many participants enjoyed a relaxed run by the sea, you could feel a competitive tension between the top runners.
Bernhard Schacke was one of many returning athletes, having participated in every one of the 23 International Running Challenge events. 74 year old Bernhard loves the Lanzarote climate at this time of the year and is a regular visitor to Club La Santa:
“I always come for one, two or even three weeks, and I always stay at Club La Santa, because I enjoy the running and sport in general. I always come with my wife, who prefers to enjoy the sun… ;-) It’s really good to come to Lanzarote in November/December, because back home in Germany it’s very cold now!
I’ve been here 23 times now, and I’ll keep coming back…I want to keep coming for as many years as I can… I don’t know when that will be, if I’ll be 85 or 90 years old… “
Bernhard was also very proud to have completed the Frankfurt Marathon for the 30th time in a row this year!
Our special congratulations to Bernhard and may he come and race with us for many more editions of the International Running Challenge!
