Belgian Olympic team trains at Club La Santa
Posted: Monday November 30, 2009
The Belgian Olympic team returned to Club La Santa this month and have already booked in for 2010 and 2011 as they prepare for the London Olympics in 2012.

The organisers were Eddy De Smedt, Sports Director and Chef de Mission for the London Olympic 2012 Games and his assistant Rudy Lahor. Eddy told us that the resort was an excellent choice and an outstanding venue for their needs.
They were particularly happy with the all-round training programme we could offer, along with our conference facilities.

We’re almost an official outpost for the Belgian team, as they’ve been visiting here since the 90’s and are big fans of the Island.
It probably helps that we’ve still got some nice, warm weather, while Belgium is more like the UK at this time of the year!
This year, as well as the intense training, they had the opportunity to enjoy an excursion to the mysterious, unique and awe inspiring Timanfaya National Park and Jameos Del Agua – organised with the help of the Lanzarote Tourist Board.
Our packages had to be tailored to several different sports including Judo, Athletics, Kayak Rowing, Cycling, Weight Lifting, Swimming and Beach Volleyball.
The cyclists were particularly impressed by the conditions and the light traffic on the roads.
Rudy told us, that every time the Belgian team runs camps to Club La Santa they have a huge demand as all the Team Members want to come back, which is great to hear…
We’ll see you next year and good luck with your preparation for 2012, we’ll be watching to see how you do!
