Rebecca Romero trains at Club La Santa

Olympic Gold medalist, Rebecca Romero has been at Club La Santa as she starts her training again after 7 months away from her bike.

The 29-year-old won a rowing silver medal in Athens 2004, then switched disciplines to the bike and picked up a gold in 2008 – the first British female to win 2 Olympic medals in 2 different events within 4 years.

Speaking of switching sports, Rebecca hasn’t just been getting on her bike, she’s been fencing, running and heading to the gym.

Spending time effectively
Rebecca is a dynamic athlete who knows how to manage many activities at one time. During her time as a professional rower she managed to get a degree in English and Sports Science. And when she went professional she got a Diploma in Marketing Communication.

The motivation
Rebecca is a true athlete and constantly sets herself new goals. For her it is important to set realistic long term aims to strive for. During her training she has a good support system, as she’s connected to the British National Team.

It means good advice and help from physiotherapists is always on-hand if any muscles need to be fixed.

Future goals
There are still many targets Rebecca is aiming for and there are still many things to achieve. In autumn there is the National Championships and the World Cup is also coming up soon.

But the big one is the Olympic Games in London 2012. She’ll be cycling. She says. But then it’s a few years away…
