Mark Webber at Club La Santa ahead of Australian Grand Prix

Australian Formula One driver, Mark Webber, is staying at Club La Santa to recover from his leg fracture before the season starts.

Last November Mark was involved in an accident where he got hit by a car during a mountain bike race. It has been an important part of his recovery to be here at Club La Santa and be ready for the up-coming season.

Sun + sport = perfect mix of preparation
Mark Webber has visited Club La Santa once before and really enjoys the mild climate here. It is beneficial for his leg and helps with the final preparations before the start of the season.

The best thing for the leg right now is to be healed by the sun and, furthermore, it is possible for him to train within different areas of the complex, and keep in good shape.

During his stay here Mark has used the gym, biking tours in the beautiful landscape and the Olympic pool.

It is a must to be in good condition as a professional Formula One Driver because it helps you concentrate and the body has more energy to give a good performance. Not that this is a massive problem for Mark, as he’s always been involved in several different kinds of sports – hence the injury in the first place!

This year is the eighth season for Mark Webber as a Formula One Driver and he is almost as good as they come. He began his interest in fast vehicles many years ago when his dad had his own motorbike shop. Mark started with go-karting and then progressed to Formula One.

Last year, he managed 10th in the World Championship.

Private life
Mark is living in England at the moment, together with his girlfriend. He has always travelled a lot because of the Formula One races, but this year it is getting better: he used to spend approximately 140 nights in hotels whereas this year the number has decreased to 100 nights, which is a good balance between his working life and his private life. It can be hard being away from family and friends, but he gets great support from home and it helps him to focus on his job.
