New Hotel - Latest News

Latest news on the New Development at Club La Santa – updated 3rd April 2009.

The building of the new development at Club La Santa has had to be halted. This is due to a change in the law in Spain, which means that the application has had to be submitted again to the Spanish Parliament.

Unfortunately, due to this change, we cannot say for certain if the building of the new pools and badminton hall will start before the construction of the new apartments.

Club La Santa in Lanzarote will keep us informed of the situation and we will update you as soon as we have more information.

We hope to have some more news by the end of July.

Rest assured, while all this is ongoing, the resort is functioning as normal and our latest Winter Prices are now available online.

Latest news on the New Development at Club La Santa – updated 04th September 2008.

The new development will provide 46 one bedroom, 42 two bedroom and 4 penthouse apartments, all of 4 star quality, with air conditioning, internet access and television. They will all have online access to Sports Booking.

All apartments will have terraces with sea/lagoon views. Charges for these apartments are likely to be approximately 25% more than a red apartment in the existing complex.

Security fencing around the perimeter of the site is being erected at the moment. A road into the site will be built and two “mock-up” apartments will be erected by the lagoon close to the existing complex, probably by October/November 2008. This will help in deciding final specifications and fittings.

The next 3-4 months will be spent on earth moving in the area between the stadium and the lagoon to create the ground levels for the new apartments. A new sewer for waste disposal is currently being tested. When it is fully operational and approved the old sewage plant by the lagoon will be demolished.

There will be a separate reception area but this will not be open 24 hours a day. The existing reception will still be the main reception.

There will be a 2000 square metre underground car park, a 300 seat restaurant will be built into a cave overlooking the lagoon, and there will be a separate leisure and new childrens’ pool, heated by means of a geothermic heat pump.

The new sports facilities will include:

SPORTS HALL – to meet the standards for international basketball and badminton.

TWO OLYMPIC SIZE POOLS – these will allow coaches to watch swimmers in action from below the water level. The existing Olympic pool will be turned into a “flexipool”. This will allow options to configure it as a 25 metre pool for short course swimming, improving water polo use, and allowing in-water spinning and aqua-aerobics in shallow water. Both pools will be heated by solar energy.

AEROBICS AREA – built like an amphitheatre, making it possible to see the instructor from any point.

SQUASH AND MULTI-SPORTS – 4 new squash courts plus a multi-sports area.

GOLF – a much improved golf training area at the end of the stadium, with a driving range next to the new sports hall. CLS intends to run golf training camps.

TENNIS – the number of tennis courts will go back to 10 (currently 7 are available for use), plus a training court and at least one Paddle tennis court.

Construction of the new hotel should be completed by 2010.

To celebrate Club La Santa’s 25th Anniversary, we’ve started building a new hotel at the southern end of the resort – located behind the tennis courts and driving range.

While we hope the building will cause minimal disruption to our guests, the new water tank which is being made in the south section (next to the stadium) has required us to block off 2 tennis courts.

It means that tennis courts 8 and 9 will be out of use for a short time and we are told they should be back in use by September 2008.

However, we have put flood-lights on the available courts until 22:00 hours, so that guests can play tennis until later in the evening.

Club La Santa will keep us informed on the situation, and we will come back to you as soon as we have more information on the completion date.

Club La Santa hope that you enjoy and make use of the many facilities available to you.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Going forward it will add new facilities and extra apartments to make Club La Santa even bigger and better than ever.

We will update the website with pictures of the work as it progresses and rest assured we will give you the information first when the new facilities are available to book.
