History

Club La Santa was created as a sports and holiday resort in 1983, within existing buildings erected in 1972 by the local bank La Caja de Canarias, with Juan Manuel Ruiz de la Prada as architect.
The Danish founder Eilif Krogager, creator and then still owner of the tour operator Tjaereborg, became interested in Lanzarote as a holiday venue in 1978, and bought the site (which was still being built) from the bank. At that time, the island offered very few tourist resorts.
Because of its geographical location, Club La Santa would need to offer different attractions for the tourist other than just the usual sea and sun. Among severaldifferent proposals, the sports resort was chosen.

The new concept opened its doors on 22 June 1983.
The idea is, and has always been, to offer the highest quality, so that both elite athletes and beginners or families could enjoy the place together.
In addition to quality, the free use of the many sports facilities, all on site, including free instruction at beginner and intermediate levels, have made Club La Santa a huge success.
European, World and Olympic champions regularly visit Club La Santa, whether invited for marketing or promotional purposes, or because they actually wish to visit this sports paradise for training or holidays. They feel at home at Club La Santa, just as the holidaymakers do with their families and friends.
